1) give something for free: demo
2) increase self-esteem by solving a problem: case study
3) news: talk about news in landing page copy
4) mystery: curious about the unexplored, elitist, exclusive, secret
5) occasion: black friday, cyber monday
6) fear: of not being liked (cosmetics), acceptance (fitness), only 5 copies left ( ecommerce ) or last room available ( booking )
7) personal gain: getting something for ourselves, how much you can earn
8) third-party data: especially if from authorities, studies, personalities create credibility
9) status: if something is elitist the benefits take a back seat to the social context, the symbolic value, the status
10) inclusion: values, ideals, interests that make you feel part of something
